Yesterday, I dropped my phone from a short height, and it ended up knocking the top screen off it’s hinges and popped off the phone completely. The phone still worked as a whole, and the keyboard and screen were connected by a very thin wire. After a long time trying to pop the hinges back in, I gave up and ended up supergluing the top and bottom together so the phone would permanently be open. Then I realized when the phone is in the landscape position, calls can only heard through speaker mode. So I tried to break apart the superglue. As I separated the two parts, I pulled with a lot of force it ruined the wire connecting them, and now the screen doesn’t work anymore. Now it’s broken beyond repair.
So a couple notes to myself about this whole ordeal:
I should never attempt to fix electronics myself
I should’ve waited for my dad to fix it
Or done nothing because the phone store could’ve fixed it if the wire was intact
Superglue was and will always will be the worst solution to any problem
That’s one good phone down the drain due to my incompetence and being impatient. Now I’m stuck with my old phone that loses signal every five minutes, but honestly it’s still a phone and I only need it to contact a couple people in particular so I’m not complaining much. I’m just a little heartbroken because I have some cute text messages and some significant files on there not saved on my sd card.
Next time I buy a phone, I’ll just have to consider:
Having a phone that consists of one piece
Preferably not touchscreen-reliant if it’s not an iPhone
Getting a case
Staying away from Android OS (It’s slow as a motherfucker)
I’m probably leaning towards an iPhone, but my upgrade isn’t until July 2012 and I’m not dropping $600+ for one. :(
